In Kolhapur, structural engineer Chetan Patil, one of the individuals named in the FIR related to the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Malvan, surrendered to the Kolhapur police at 12:30 am on Friday. Acting on behalf of Patil, a friend facilitated his surrender. Superintendent Mahendra Pandit shared that police teams had been searching for Patil, even questioning his family, relatives, and friends. Patil, a resident of Shivaji Peth in Kolhapur, had been staying in Chikodi, Belagavi district of Karnataka. Following a medical examination, Patil was taken to Malvan for arrest. There, he was booked under various sections of the law alongside sculptor Jaydip Apte. Inspector Ashok Kolhe confirmed that the arrest had been carried out, with efforts ongoing to locate the absconding sculptor. Patil is a professor at a private engineering college and was responsible for the project design as the structural engineer.
